Third Grade
The third-grade coursework includes math, language arts, social studies, and science. In math, students will learn column addition and subtraction, continue working on word problems and basic fraction concepts, and be introduced to multiplication, division, and Roman numerals. In language arts, students will continue to strengthen reading, grammar, cursive handwriting, and vocabulary skills and grow in the mechanics of communication and writing. Students will begin to learn about paragraph structure, compound words, contractions, sentence combining, helping verbs, prepositions, spelling, and more. In social studies, students will learn the American story from ancient America to the Great Gold Rush. In science, students will learn about God's creation of biomes, the food chain, climate, trees, and so much more. All curriculum has faith integration throughout. Fourth Grade
The fourth-grade coursework includes math, language arts, social studies, and science. In math, students will continue building on previous concepts and add basic geometry and averaging. In language arts, students will continue to strengthen reading, grammar, cursive handwriting, and vocabulary skills and grow in the mechanics of communication and writing along with creative writing, poems, psalms, and more. In social studies, students will learn the American story from the Civil War to the 1900s.. In science, students will learn about weather and water, our universe, and the planet earth. All curriculum has faith integration throughout. The Nehemiah Academy uses the MasterBooks curriculum.
Fifth Grade
The fifth-grade coursework includes math, language arts, social studies, and science. In math, students will continue building on previous concepts and factoring with proper and improper fractions, and decimals. In language arts, students will continue to strengthen reading, grammar, cursive handwriting, and vocabulary skills, and poem, hymn, and picture studies as well as faith-growing stories to inspire detailed and descriptive paragraphs while making real-world connections that enhance this fun and engaging story-based approach.. In social studies, students will learn the American story from the 1900s to modern times. In science, students will learn about the world of planets, the human body, and the world of animals. All curriculum has faith integration throughout. The Nehemiah Academy uses the MasterBooks curriculum.
