First Grade
The first-grade coursework details faith integration within the skills learned in a first-grade curriculum of math, language arts, social studies, and science. Students will continue learning numbers from 1-100, shapes, patterns, counting, addition, time, and many other math concepts. The Nehemiah Academy uses the MasterBooks curriculum.
Second Grade
The second-grade coursework includes math, language arts, social studies, and science. Math will continue to work with addition, writing numbers to 100, time, subtraction, word problems, measurement, basic fractions, and money. In language arts, students will grow in reading, grammar, and vocabulary, as well as the mechanics of communication and writing. Students will develop early reading and narration skills, and by the end of the year, be able to write stories of three or more sentences. Students will also begin to learn cursive writing. In social studies, students will learn about countries all over the world, including languages and customs. In science, students will exploration energy, simple machines, matter, astronomy, geology, and more about God's physical world. All curriculum has faith integration throughout. The Nehemiah Academy uses the MasterBooks curriculum.
